Joo Y. Oh
PRINCIPAL

Joo Y. Oh is the founder of STUDIO JYO. She has over twenty years of experience in high-end residential architecture and interior design, practicing in both New York and San Francisco. As a point of distinction, Joo brings a rigorous background in architecture and fine art to her interior design practice. She is deeply interested in collaboration with the client and believes that a successful project should feel like a natural extension on the client’s vision. Joo gravitates towards clean, minimal lines and focuses on creating modern spaces that are livable and warm. In addition to curating furnishings and fixtures, Joo has a passion and expertise in art procurement and is keen to bring the world of fine art to her clients. Through years of practice and refinement, she also delivers a streamlined procurement and delivery process that is turnkey for clients.

Joo’s passion for art and design started at an early age. She attended Sunhwa Art High School in Seoul before attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she obtained a fine arts degree in sculpture and art installation. Joo received her master of architecture degree from Parsons School of Design in New York, where she focused on interior renovations for a number of years before moving to San Francisco in 2006. Prior to founding STUDIO JYO, Joo was the Director of the interiors practice at Sutro Architects and also practiced at high-end Bay Area residential firms Walker Warner Architects and Charlie Barnett Associates.
